The 90 Day Rule

Our culture demands a quick fix.  They want there hamburgers fast.  They want everything that has a drive-through.  Everything is at the palm of our hands with people texting on the go and the web on there i phone.  Gone are the days of the written letter or even the phone call to say hi.  The same goes with health and healing.
As a doctor who is interested in the care of his patients,  I always follow natural laws to get the best results.  One of those laws is the 90 Day Law.  What the 90 Day Law in essence says is that it takes roughly 90 days for anything to properly heal in the body.  This applies to broken bones, sprained ligaments, muscle injuries, joint injuries, etc..  Of course this all depends on the severity of the injury, but on average it is 90 days.  I have experienced patients who have had spinal decay that has been progressing for over 10 years.  Many of these patients expect a quick fix with one or two adjustments.  Let me make a BIG distinction between the pain and the problem.  The problem has usually been around long before the pain ever arrived.  If they want true health, they are going to have to address the problem which requires time.  I didn't make up this law.  It's just like 9 months for a pregnancy.  Why 9 months?  I don't know!  That's just the way God created us.  Until next time, keep smiling and tell others to do the same.

The Silent Killer

I always explain to my patients that there is a big difference between the pain that they are experiencing and the problem that caused it.  If you were to ask the average citizen on the road what health is, what would they tell you?  The most common response is, "When I am feeling fine, of course".  We all want to go through life with no pain and I have always heard the phrase, "If it aint broke, don't fix it".  The problem with this attitude is that a majority of the public does not know when there is a problem.  You see, symptoms are always the last thing to appear and the first thing to go away when dealing with a disease process.  Also, did you know that 93% of your nervous systems function has nothing to do with sensory pain.  Wow!  It all goes to the function of your muscle function and also to the function of your organs, blood vessels, and glands.  Since your nervous system controls and regulates every living function in your body, wouldn't it be smart to cultivate it and take care of it.  Chiropractors are trained in the prevention and detection of spinal stress on your nervous system which for the last century has been called "The Silent Killer".  Keep the spine healthy and everything else follows.

The Breakthrough Technology Of The ProAdjuster

Imagine thirty to forty years ago, if we told you that dentistry would be painless, that doctors would watch television to perform surgeries, that brain surgery for tumors could be done with a laser, that fetuses could be operated on within the uterus, that knife-less surgery could be performed- you would not have believed us. By the same token, would you believe us if we told you that Chiropractic treatments and reorientation of the nervous system could be done comfortably, while you were sitting in an upright position without any turning or sudden movements? Would you believe that newborns as well as the elderly with osteoporosis can be treated safely and gently?
Advances in computers and engineering technologies have been able to uniquely blend with Chiropractic in order to both analyze and treat the human body in such a way that was never before realized. The potential for the human being to end pain and to achieve their peak nervous system function has never been greater. Humans are consistently asking their bodies to perform at higher levels. Now we have the techniques and the technology to match the demand placed on the spine and the nervous system. We now have the capability to fine tune our own energy and enhance every aspect of our lives.

Complex Technology, Simple Solution. The ProAdjuster.

You can achieve maximum health for your body now and in the future beginning with a simple anatomical concept. The nervous system (the brain and all the nerves) controls every function of your body. If this network is interfered with, pain ensues, as does bodily malfunction, resulting in sickness and diminished overall health. The “something” you can do to improve performance and maximize health is to maximize the health of your nervous system. There are several ways to do this. The number one way is allowing a doctor of Chiropractic using the ProAdjuster equipment to analyze and treat your nervous system.

Chiropractic Increases Athletic Performance

Did you know that most professional sports teams have a team Chiropractor.  In the article below we see the use of Chiropractic for the Olympic athletes.  Why would Chiropractic be needed for people who appear to be in great physical condition?  I don't see them stooped over with back pain or sciatica.  They don't seem to be holding their necks to keep them from moving because of the pain.  The answer is simple as to why they utilize the advantage of Chiropractic for their sports.  A natural law governs the health of every living tissue in the human body.  Chiropractors work with this natural law by giving spinal adjustments which free the communication pathway to every organ, gland, blood vessel, muscle, etc..  It's as simple as that!  The nervous system controls and regulates every living function in the body.  If there is a block in this system, ill health will result.  If it is free from any blocks, top health is the result.  These athletes are not using Chiropractic for pain, but are using the advantage of Chiropractic for top performance.  Next time you hear of a friend or family member who is going in for a Chiropractic wellness adjustment,  you will understand that well adjusted people are always healthier and will perform better than those who are not.

Chiropractic Care Included in 2010 Olympic Vancouver Winter Games
A news release from the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP) on February 5, 2010 also printed on the EarthTimes website opens with the statement, "For the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, the 2010 Winter Games in Vancouver, Canada, will include chiropractic care inside the Olympic Village Polyclinic, a multi-disciplinary facility that offers comprehensive health care and medical services."
The release notes that chiropractors have been part of the Olympic games by helping athletes as part of their individual country's healthcare staffs. However, this time in addition to the chiropractors from the individual nations, chiropractic care will be offered by the host nation of Canada at the Polyclinic which is open for all athletes from around the world.
The F4CP release notes that throughout the years, chiropractic has become a mainstay in the care of world-class athletes, leading to a growing number of doctors of chiropractic included in the Olympic Games. Countless athletes attribute the care they receive from their chiropractors, working along-side other health care professionals, as a key to properly preparing their bodies to perform optimally.
The release also reports that chiropractic care has experienced several major moments in Olympic history. The first may well have been when a chiropractor, Dr. Leroy Perry, provided chiropractic care to athletes representing Antigua during the 1976 Games in Montreal, Canada.  The F4CP also noted that during the 1980 Winter Olympic Games in Lake Placid, NY, another chiropractor, Dr. George Goodheart, became the first official chiropractor appointed to the U.S. Olympic team. Since then each subsequent Olympic Games and Pan American Games, the U.S. teams, along with a growing number of other national teams, have included at least one doctor of chiropractic on their medical staff.
Dr. Bill Moreau, a chiropractor recently promoted to the Director of Sports Medicine Clinics for the US Olympic Committee, stated, "Inclusion inside the Polyclinic is another major milestone for the chiropractic profession, and we are grateful to the Host City of Vancouver, the head of Medical Services at the Polyclinic, Jack Taunton, M.D., and to Robert Armitage, D.C., who helped make this possible.”

Chiropractic for Kids: Getting the Word Out

Chiropractic for Kids: Getting the Word Out
The above is the headline of a feature article in the January 2010 issue of "To Your Health". The feature article begins by relating the story of 6 week old Cameron, who hadn't slept longer than an hour at a time, was fussy when awake, had difficulty nursing and seemed to spit up more than he ate.
The story noted that Marlena, the boy's mother, was at her wit's end when a friend suggested she take her baby to a chiropractor. Even though she was skeptical, she was willing to give it a try. The article reported that after just three visits Cameron was a completely different child. They noted that he slept for longer stretches, nursed for shorter stretches, rarely spit up and, was happy and content.
The article then does a good job in explaining how chiropractic helped young Cameron. The author explained, "When a joint in the spine or cranium doesn't move properly (a condition called a subluxation), it has the potential to irritate the nervous system. And it's the nervous system that runs the baby's body, carrying instructions from the brain to distant body parts. If that communication system becomes disrupted, the affected body part may not function properly. Chiropractic care removes the source of irritation, allowing the body to heal and operate properly."
Cameron's case is not a singular one. The article notes that a recent survey showed that up to 14 percent of all visits to chiropractors are for children, and chiropractic is the most used non-medical care for children. The article also reported that according to the Centers for Disease and Control (CDC) there were more than 2 million pediatric visits to chiropractors in 2007. The article noted that chiropractic adjustments for children are very different than those given on adult spines. They also reported that chiropractic's record makes it the safest form of healthcare available.
In closing, the article lists a number of conditions that commonly respond to chiropractic care for children. The list of conditions included such problems as colic, ear infections, bed-wetting, asthma, scoliosis, constipation, headaches, and a variety of other health problems.

Dr. Steve's comments:
I have a picture at home of a 3 year old adjusting his teddy bear.  To this child Chiropractic care was a way of life.  Mom and Dad didn't run to the medicine cabinet every time a fever crept up or signs of a cold surfaced.  He was given essentials needed to heal to the best of his ability.  They new that with proper rest,  good nutrition, love, and a healthy spine free from stress, their boy would recover and heal as expected.  The boy in the picture was me and now I am the one making sure the children have the greatest chance of health possible.  My children are checked for spinal stress on a regular basis, and they are a living testament of the positive effects of being under Chiropractic care.  Chiropractic is not just for back pain or symptom relief.  Less than 10% of the nervous system is sensory which means that 90% has nothing to do with how you feel.  Send this message to someone in need.  It could be the very message that changed a child's life.

"Each patient carries His own doctor inside Him.  We are our best when we give the doctor who resides within each patient a chance to work.

We Live to Serve

I truly learn a lot running a Chiropractic practice.  You will not only learn a lot about people of all walks of life, but mostly you will learn more about yourself.  I am self employed and enjoy the benefits of setting my schedule and having the freedom to run the business as I choose.  However, just because I am self employed does not mean that I have no employer.  Every practice member in Kraft Family Chiropractic is an employer of Dr. Steve Kraft.  I serve them and work for them.  I wake up every day trying to invent new ways of delivering a better service to my practice members.  I think that is the way our Heavenly Father designed it.  The goal in life is not to be selfish but selfless.  The bible says in Mark 10:45 NIV "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many." Christ is my example.  Whether we are a husband, wife, father, mother, son, daughter, or employee, we should strive to serve.  This would change your life for the better and will have a lasting impact on the lives of all the people in your circle of influence in life.
